At the end of 2016, Python 3.6 was released. This article tells you to step by step guidelines to install Python on computers with different versions of Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.
To install Python 3.6 on a computer with Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 operating system using a user account with administrator privileges, or the local administrator account itself. For security, you can add-temporarily-for this installation process the current user’s account to the local Administrators group. To do this, start the Computer Management application, access the Local Users and Groups system tool and add the current account to that group.
In systems with 64-bit architecture, you can install both the Python version for 32 bit and for 64 bit. In general, working with the 64-bit version improves performance and allows a program to use more than 4Gb of RAM, limit memory in 32 bit systems. Normally, working below this limit, no significant performance differences are observed between both versions, but it is recommended to install the 64-bit version. In any case, if you are going to use third-party modules, you should check if they are available for the version to be installed.
Steps to Install Python on Windows:
Open the browser and type python official website and click on the link as shown in the below image. Once the link is open you can click on the downloads menu and select the version ‘Python 3.6.7’. Next files window will be opened as shown in the below images and click on the ‘Windowsx86-64 executable installer’. Executable file will be downloaded and finds in the download folder by default. Go to the Windows download area of your system and check the downloaded version as mentioned in the image as 64 bit Python 3.6.7 executable installer.
Start the installation by running the downloaded file Python-3.6.7.exe or Python-3.6.7-amd64.exe with a double click and click on ‘customize installation’. If necessary, confirm the execution in the security warning window of Open file.
Once the installer has started, in the Install Python 3.6.7 (64 bit) window, the options boxes will pop up in a new window as shown in the image: Install launcher for all users (recommended) and Add Python 3.67 to PATH. Then, continue selecting the Customize installation option. Choose Location and features.
In the Optional features window, verify that all options are active and click on the ‘Next’ button.
In the Advanced Options window verify that the options of the image are active, write the path of the installation directory “C:\Python36” (or accept the default route) and start the installation by clicking on the ‘Install’ button.
Then, after a few seconds of waiting, the Python installation process will begin.
In the Setup was a successful window, once you have finished the installation process click on the ‘Close’ button. From the below-shown image, it is possible to access an online tutorial of Python, the official language documentation and information with the novelties of this version.
To test Python, access the command line by running the cmd.exe programer Command Prompt. Then, write “python” and accept to start the Python interactive environment where you can verify the installed Python version and it is possible to enter Python commands. Finally, enter quit () or press Ctrl + D.
Browse the Installation Directory:
In this case, the installation of Python3.6 has been done in the directories C: \ Python36 or C:\Users\home\Python36. At a first glance in the directory, there are other subdirectories and executable that invoke the interpreter: python.exe(executes programs .py and compiled programs .pyc) and pythonw.exe (executes programs.pyw that use graphics interface). Also, there are the files with general information (README.TXT), about the license (LICENSE.TXT) and the novelties of this version (NEWS.TXT)

In the directory C:\Python36\Scripts are the easy_install and pip package installation tools.
In the directory C:\Python36\Lib are the modules of the Python Standard Library and the default space where third–party packages are installed: site-packages
In the directory C:\Python36\Tcl you will find the Tcl/Tkinter libraries for the development of graphics applications with Python. This binding is considered a standard for the graphical user interface for Python.
